Armenia national team captain Eduard Spertsyan has been named to Marca’s list of the 100 best players of the 2025/26 season, reports Zartonk Sports. The list from the Spanish sports newspaper, announced on October 15, places the Armenian midfielder among the biggest names in world football, including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Lamine Yamal.

The other nominees feature Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Júnior, Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Pedri, and Rodri. The winner is chosen by a jury of more than 200 members, with the result announced on October 22. The award is a separate honor from the Ballon d’Or, which is presented by France Football.

Spertsyan, 26, was born in Krasnodar and came up through the academy of Russian club Krasnodar, where he spent his entire senior career before this summer. In 2024/25 he captained the club to the Russian Premier League title, the first in Krasnodar’s history. He scored 14 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions in the 2025/26 season.

In the summer of 2026 he moved to Saudi club Al-Ahli, where he has recorded two goals and three assists in his first eight rounds of the Saudi Pro League. He has represented Armenia since 2021 and was named captain of the national team in November 2025.
