Vahe Kallibjian is an entrepreneur, creative visionary, and operator whose journey spans music, fashion, and the rapidly evolving food industry—culminating in a pivotal role in shaping the cultural and operational trajectory of Dave’s Hot Chicken.
Before entering the food space, Vahe built his foundation in the music industry, spending over a decade as a recording engineer and DJ. During that time, he developed a sharp instinct for audience engagement, branding, and execution—skills that would later become central to his success in business.
Parallel to his work in music, Vahe cultivated a grassroots entrepreneurial identity, traveling across the country selling self-designed apparel at major hip hop and rock festivals. This hands-on, direct-to-consumer approach—built on hustle, presence, and real-time feedback—became a defining element of his philosophy. In 2017, that mindset translated into his first venture in the food world: a donut truck inspired by one of his own T-shirt designs. It marked the beginning of a new chapter—one rooted in mobility, accessibility, and experiential branding.
That same year, Vahe connected with the founders of Dave’s Hot Chicken, positioning his truck alongside their early pop-ups and embedding himself in what would become one of the fastest-growing food brands in the country.
By 2018, on the opening day of the company’s first brick-and-mortar location, Vahe stepped in to assist operations—quickly establishing himself as indispensable. As Dave’s first General Manager, he played a critical role in building the operational foundation of the business during its most formative stage, helping implement systems and processes that would later support rapid scale.
At the same time, Vahe led creative direction across the brand, designing a wide range of merchandise and visual assets—from apparel and accessories to packaging elements like napkins, water bottles, and condiment labels. Many of Dave’s now-iconic slogans were born organically in the kitchen during those early days, with Vahe helping translate them into a cohesive visual identity now recognized worldwide.
After several years of operational leadership, Vahe became a partner in multiple locations alongside the founders. In 2021, he returned to his roots—activating the brand through live experiences at concerts and festivals, reconnecting Dave’s with the same grassroots energy that defined its early days.
That momentum led to one of his most significant innovations: the introduction of a large-scale mobile food concept.
With support from company leadership, including CEO Bill Phelps, Vahe developed and launched the first Dave’s Hot Chicken franchise on wheels, a 35-foot mobile unit that debuted at Rolling Loud Los Angeles in March 2025.
The concept marked a major evolution for the brand—transforming it from a restaurant chain into a mobile cultural presence.
Since its launch, the food truck has become a staple at major festivals including Coachella, Stagecoach, Portola, Day Trip, Just Like Heaven, Cali Vibes, and When We Were Young, while also servicing private events such as weddings and large-scale celebrations across Southern California.
More than an extension of the brand, the mobile unit represents a full-circle moment—bringing Dave’s back to its roots of direct engagement, while expanding its reach far beyond traditional retail spaces.
Today, Vahe continues to operate at the intersection of culture, creativity, and scalable business—helping shape Dave’s Hot Chicken not just as a fast-growing company, but as a brand embedded in experience, community, and movement.
