E-auto opened a nearly 3,000 square meter HONGQI center at 40/3 Rubinyants Street in Yerevan on August 21, investing around $5 million in what the company says is the brand’s largest facility in the region.
The complex houses HONGQI’s flagship showroom, a service center and a specialized vehicle painting facility under one roof. E-auto also runs a warehouse of roughly 2,500 square meters to keep spare parts in constant supply. The painting facility uses factory technologies and standards.
Deputy Economy Minister Narek Hovakimyan attended the opening alongside Lu Zhiguang, Deputy General Manager for Eastern Europe at FAW, HONGQI’s parent company.
HONGQI is owned by FAW Group, a Chinese state-owned automaker based in Changchun. The marque launched in 1958 as China’s first domestically built passenger car brand, and its name, meaning red flag, comes from its original role supplying state vehicles for Chinese leaders and national ceremonies. It began exporting in volume after a 2018 brand relaunch.
E-auto is the sole official representative of HONGQI electric vehicles in Armenia and Georgia. The company imported around 800 electric vehicles into Armenia in 2025, which it says accounted for around 35 percent of all electric vehicles brought in by official representatives that year. It has imported around 500 so far in 2026 and expects to pass last year’s total.
“This rapid growth is a major achievement for us, but at the same time, it is a major responsibility. Our work does not end with the sale of a vehicle: customers need to be confident that whenever they have any issue related to their vehicle, they have one place where they can receive comprehensive, specialized and reliable service,” said Gevorg Aghajanyan, co-founder and CEO of E-auto.
Hovakimyan tied the opening to government policy. “In recent years, the policy of promoting the import and use of electric vehicles has been among the priorities of the Ministry of Economy, with VAT and customs duty exemptions provided for this purpose. Today’s event also demonstrates that we are on the right path,” he said.
He added that official representatives of international companies matter beyond the vehicles themselves, pointing to infrastructure development, accountability and warranty coverage.
E-auto became HONGQI’s official representative in Georgia at the start of 2026, taking the model it built in Armenia across the border.
“We will continue to work closely with our partner to provide all customers with reliable service and long-term support, and thanks to this new showroom, customers in Armenia can now learn more about HONGQI firsthand and personally test our products,” Lu said.
The company operates a second Yerevan address at 138/4 Davit Bek Street. It provides an official warranty on HONGQI electric vehicles of up to 8 years or 150,000 kilometers, and offers car loans through most leading Armenian banks starting at a 0 percent down payment.
