Armenia ranked 89th out of 147 countries in the World Happiness Report 2026, with a score of 5.584. Among its neighbors, Armenia placed ahead of Georgia, which ranked 91st, Turkey at 94th, Iran at 97th, and Azerbaijan at 102nd.

Among post-Soviet countries, Armenia ranked behind Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Latvia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, and Russia.

Finland topped the 2026 ranking, followed by Iceland, Denmark, Costa Rica, and Sweden, while Afghanistan ranked last.

The World Happiness Report 2026 was published by the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford, in partnership with Gallup, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and an independent editorial board.

The rankings are based on the Cantril Ladder, a life evaluation question that asks respondents to rate their current lives on a scale from 0 to 10, where 0 represents the worst possible life and 10 the best possidble life.

The United Nations proclaimed March 20 the International Day of Happiness in 2012.
