Armenia Reports 8th Coronavirus Death, Cases Increases By 11 To 833.

Today, the Republic of Armenia reported its 8th fatality from the coronavirus 19 days after declaring a state of emergency to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

A 68-year-old man has died on Sunday night of the coronavirus at the Nork infectious diseases hospital, adding that he suffered from pre-existing medical conditions such as double pneumonia and diabetes, per Alina Nikoghosyan, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health.

The Republic of Armenia has confirmed 11 new coronavirus cases, on Monday, April 6, now standing at 833, per Armenia’s Ministry of Health.”¨-“¨Out of the 833 total cases, 62 people recovered and 8 patients with underlying health conditions died. The remaining 763 are active cases, per Alina Nikoghosyan, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health. To date, 4,096 negative coronavirus tests have been conducted in Armenia, added Nikoghosyan. 5 more patients have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the total to 62 recoveries, added Torosyan.

146 out of Armenia’s 763 active coronavirus patients are suffering from pneumonia, 30 are in serious condition and 8 are in critical condition, per Arsen Torosyan, Minister of Health.

Torosyan also announced that 1,500 people in Armenia are currently quarantined, another 5,000 have been instructed to self-isolate. 400 people have been released from quarantine, he added.

Six police officers have contracted Covid-19 in Armenia, per Hayk Mhryan, Deputy Chief of Police.

Around 30 Armenian citizens have arrived in Yerevan on Belavia’s Amsterdam-Minsk-Yerevan flight, per the Armenian Embassy in the Netherlands. Ambassador Tigran Balayan and the staff were at the Amsterdam Airport to see off the citizens.

Today, the Republic of Armenia conducted 263 coronavirus tests, 11 of which came back positive and 252 negative.
