Emirates Petroleum Company PJSC (Emarat) has opened its first branded service station in Yerevan, the first step in a planned nationwide network, marking the UAE energy company’s entry into the Armenian market, according to a joint announcement from Emarat and its Armenian partner MegaTrade.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Nariman Al Mulla, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia; Eng. Ahmed Al Shamsi, Vice Chairman of the Emarat Board and Group CEO at Trojan Construction Holding; Burhan Al Hashemi, CEO of Emarat; Eduard Sukiasyan, Chairman of the Board of SIL Capital; and Yeghisabet Movsisyan, CEO of SIL Capital, alongside senior executives and representatives from the energy and business sectors in both countries.
The opening follows the strategic partnership signed in September 2025 between Emarat and MegaTrade, one of Armenia’s leading fuel and energy companies and part of the SIL Capital portfolio. The station is the first presence of the Emarat brand in Armenia and builds on the company’s operational model in regional markets.
Under the partnership, first signed at a ceremony in Yerevan attended by Mayor Tigran Avinyan, MegaTrade operates one of Armenia’s largest fuel-station networks under the Run Oil brand and is a major player in the country’s bitumen production. The collaboration is aimed at positioning Armenia as a regional hub for international petroleum retail while raising standards across the sector
Emarat and MegaTrade said they plan to launch an integrated network of service stations across Armenia in the next phase of a phased expansion plan. All stations will operate in line with Emarat’s global standards, providing fuel, retail stores, and ancillary services while adhering to international health, safety, and environmental practices.
H.E. Dr. Nariman Al Mulla said Emarat’s expansion reflects the ability of UAE national companies to compete regionally and internationally, and embodies the depth of economic relations between the two countries. She said the economic agreements between the UAE and Armenia provide a supportive environment for the growth of UAE companies while strengthening mutual investments.
Burhan Al Hashemi, CEO of Emarat, said the opening of the company’s first station in Yerevan represents a new milestone in Emarat’s global expansion, reflecting a business model built on long-term partnerships and the transfer of Emirati expertise to new markets. He said the company looks forward to expanding its network of stations in Armenia in cooperation with its partners.
Eduard Sukiasyan, Chairman of SIL Capital and shareholder of MegaTrade, said choosing Emarat as a strategic partner reflects its expertise in managing service stations to international standards, and expressed confidence that the partnership will set new benchmarks for Armenia’s energy sector.
The market entry comes amid growing economic momentum between the UAE and Armenia, with non-oil bilateral trade reaching record levels in recent years.
