Armenia Chess Grandmaster Vladimir Akopian will switch federations from Armenia to the United States, according to the FIDE official website.

Akopian is a three-time winner of the World Chess Olympiad (2006, 2008, 2012) as a member of the Armenian team.

 The 49-year-old is ranked 12th among American chess players, according to his 2,638 rating and is ranked 127th in the FIDE rankings.

In February, Armenian Chess Grandmaster Levon Aronian also switched federations from Armenia to the United States.
