NewsArmeniaArmenia to Provide Medical Care to Children From Gaza Strip With Serious Health Conditions in Its Hospitals

The Armenian government approved a decision at its sitting on Thursday to bring children with serious health conditions out of the Gaza Strip and provide them medical care at Armenian healthcare facilities, with the Ministry of Health assigned to run the transfers.

The Cabinet allocated AMD 16.7 million ($43,000) from its reserve fund to the Ministry of Health to cover the work.

The justification for the decision states that the Ministry of Health has expressed its readiness and is working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the World Health Organization to transfer up to 10 children with serious health conditions from Gaza and arrange their treatment in Armenian medical facilities.

A preliminary assessment of the children’s health conditions covered 11 patients, 7 of whom were selected as candidates whose treatment could be provided in Armenia.

Of those 7 families, 3 agreed to come to Armenia under the proposed conditions, which allow each child a maximum of 1 accompanying person.

Armenia first made the effort public at a UN Security Council open debate on the situation in the Middle East earlier this year, where the coordination with WHO was disclosed.
