An avenue in the German city of Naumburg has officially been named “Armavir Allee” after the Armenian city of Armavir, marking the growing partnership between the two sister cities. The naming ceremony took place during the Naumburg Hussite Cherry Festival, the Embassy of Armenia in Germany announced.

The inauguration was attended by Armavir Mayor Varsham Sargsyan, Naumburg Mayor Armin Müller, and Armenia’s Ambassador to Germany Viktor Yengibaryan. Also present were Armavir Regional Governor Vahram Khachatryan, Armenia’s Honorary Consul in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt Michael Schmidt, Saxony-Anhalt State Parliament member Daniel Sturm, representatives of the partner cities of Armavir and Naumburg, delegations from the partner cities of Les Ulis in France and Aachen in Germany, and numerous other guests.

Armavir and Naumburg became sister cities in 2025 through the signing of a partnership agreement. Since then, the two municipalities have deepened their cooperation, developing joint initiatives in educational and exchange programs, winemaking, and the strengthening of economic ties.
