NewsArmeniaArmenia Submits Guinness World Record Attempt With 1,000 Dhol Performance Led By 400 Children At The Foot Of Mount Ararat

Armenia has staged “1000 Dhol Renaissance,” a large-scale cultural project at the foot of Mount Ararat bringing together 1,000 dhol players and 400 dancers, organized by Armenian composer Ara Gevorgyan and the 1000 Vahan Educational and Cultural Charity Foundation. The video documentation will be submitted to the Guinness Book of Records for official review.

The project takes its name from Gevorgyan’s 2018 composition “Veratsnund” (Renaissance) and brought together performers from across Armenia in what organizers described as a historic celebration of Armenian culture, unity, and national spirit.

“Today, the pulse of Armenian culture beat like a drum around the world,” participants wrote in a description accompanying videos from the event. “The powerful energy of 1,000 dhol players and the elegance of 400 dancers came together. The heart of Armenia beat with the most powerful rhythm in the world today. This is not just a record, this is the victory of our unity and spirit.”

According to organizers, the “Renaissance” initiative aimed to unite talented children and young people from across Armenia through music and dance.

The 1000 Vahan Educational and Cultural Charity Foundation said around 400 children participating in the foundation’s programs from different Armenian communities took part in the performance.

“The ‘1000 Vahan’ Foundation is pleased to support this important initiative,” the foundation said in a statement.

“We express our deep gratitude to the professional and dedicated choreographers, who were able to prepare the groups in a short time, creating a unified, strong and impressive dance image.”

The Gazalyan Dhol School, one of the participating institutions, confirmed on Instagram that the video of the performance will be registered in the Guinness Book of Records, with official certification pending review.
