Levon Ter Petrossian, an Armenian comedian, actor, and co-founder of the influential DEMQ Show, has passed away at the age of 45, leaving behind a legacy that helped shape modern Armenian diaspora humor.

Born on February 26, 1981, in Yerevan, Armenia, Ter Petrossian’s life journey took him across Russia, Canada, and the United States before he ultimately settled in Glendale, California, where he built both his career and community.

He was a founding member of the DEMQ Show, a comedy group that emerged in the 1990s and went on to become a defining voice for Armenians in the diaspora. Through humor rooted in everyday experiences, cultural identity, and shared realities, the group connected with audiences across generations and helped bring Armenian storytelling into the modern era.

Ter Petrossian was part of a close-knit circle of creatives who turned a passion for comedy into a cultural movement, one that resonated far beyond Los Angeles and reached Armenians around the world.

In August 2025, he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. He battled the illness in the months that followed with determination and strength.

Ter Petrossian passed away on April 16, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Beyond his work, he is remembered as a devoted husband, father, son, and friend. He leaves behind his wife and two sons.

His impact on Armenian entertainment will endure, not only through the laughter he brought to audiences, but also through the role he played in shaping a generation’s voice and identity through comedy.
