The Republic of Armenia and the State of Palestine have formally established diplomatic relations, reports Zartonk Media, citing Armenia’s Foreign Ministry (MFA).
The joint communique was signed on September 27 during a meeting between Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Palestine’s Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on the sidelines of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York.
During their meeting, they also discussed the regional situation.
This historic agreement in Armenian-Palestinian relations opens a new chapter in the bilateral relationship, setting the stage for enhanced cooperation between the two nations.
As previously reported, on June 21, Armenia recognized the State of Palestine. In its statement, Armenia’s Foreign Ministry highlighted the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza and the ongoing military conflict, emphasizing the need for resolution. The Republic of Armenia reaffirmed its commitment to international law, the principles of equality, sovereignty, and peaceful coexistence, and reiterated its support for a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue based on the “two-state” solution.
