On the night of April 5-6, Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire toward Armenian combat positions in six different directions of the frontline in Armenia’s Syunik, Tavush, and Gegharkunik Provinces, utilizing small arms of various calibers.
Azerbaijan targeted the following 6 Armenian combat positions:
- Sotk in the Gegharkunik Province between 10:25 and 10:50pm,
- Verin Shorzha in the Gegharkunik Province at 11:15pm,
- Kut in the Gegharkunik Province at 12:15am,
- Aravus in the Syunik Province between 11:15 and 11:20 pm,
- Chinari in the Tavush Province between 11:05 and 11:20 pm,
- Movses in the Tavush Province between 12:15 and 1:20 am.
The intensity of the firing varied across several directions of the border, with the majority of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces’ nighttime firing being non-targeted and irregular.
As a result of Azerbaijan’s non-targeted and irregular firing, on the night of April 6, civilian infrastructures were damaged in the northeastern part of the border zone, reports The Internal Affairs Ministry of Armenia. Specifically, houses and a gravestone were damaged in Movses village, and a civilian car was damaged in Nerkin Karmiraghbyur village of the Tavush province.
The Armenian Armed Forces observed significant vehicle movements of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces towards Ishkhanasar in the Syunik Province between 9:00 and 11:00 pm.
Armenia’s MoD said Azerbaijan’s actions are evidently provocative, aiming to elicit similar counteractions by the Armenian Armed Forces units to substantiate recent Azerbaijani disinformation. Assessing the situation, the units of the Armenian Armed Forces refrained from actions that could contribute to further escalation, leading to the calming of the situation along the border.
The Armenian Defense Ministry also reports that the Azerbaijani propaganda apparatus disseminated disinformation yesterday, misrepresenting the routine rotation of Armenian Armed Forces units as frontline concentration.
