NETFLIX will produce movies in Armenia, a significant leap for Armenia’s film industry, reports Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport.
Today, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports of the Parliament (National Assembly), the National Film Center of Armenia, and People of Art.
It was signed by Zhanna Andreasyan, Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport; Sisak Gabrielyan, Chairman of Armenia’s Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth, and Sport; Shushanik Mirzakhanyan, Acting Director of Armenia’s National Cinema Center; and Arman Nshanian, Director of People of Art Company.
Minister Zhanna Andreasyan highlighted the partnership’s importance, stressing that after the recent adoption of the amendment to Armenian Law “On Cinematography,” new groundwork was laid to make investing in Armenia’s film sector more appealing, stating, “We’ve worked extensively with experts and partners to develop by-laws, enabling the system of partial return of investments. Today’s memorandum is the outcome of those efforts.”
In a Facebook post, Sisak Gabrielyan said Armenia is preparing to host movie productions for NETFLIX.
