Today, Hakob Arshakyan, the Minister of High-Tech Industry, apologized for assaulting journalist Paylak Fakhradyan in a Yerevan Cafe. Arshakyan said “I am ready to bear responsibility in connection with the incident.”

His post runs as follows,

“Dear compatriots,

In connection with the incident, first of all, I would like to state that I am against any violence, I am guided by the principle of solving issues by civilized methods.

Every citizen has the right to privacy and family life. Any member of our society, be it an official or a journalist, is first and foremost a person, has emotions, is sensitive especially in any issue related to the family.

I would like to apologize to all the citizens present at the incident, to all those whose rest I disturbed by my action.

In the end, I want to mention that I am ready to bear responsibility in connection with the incident.”
