Armenia and Azerbaijan on Monday afternoon began exchange of prisoners and hostages on the principle of “all for all.” The State Commission on Prisoners, Missing Persons and Hostages of Azerbaijan reports, reports Sputnik Armenia.

The head of the Armenian government Nikol Pashinyan said earlier that Armenia and Azerbaijan were able to agree on the exchange of prisoners on the principle of “all for all”. According to the Ombudsman of Karabakh Artak Beglaryan, the Azerbaijani side is holding 60 prisoners of war and 40 civilians.

“As a result of negotiations with the participation of international organizations and the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, an agreement was reached with the Armenian side on the exchange of prisoners and hostages on the principle of” everything for everyone. “The process began on December 14,” the message says.

The State Commission noted that negotiations were conducted, in particular, with the International Committee of the Red Cross.

According to Sputnik, within the framework of the process, Shahbaz Guliyev and Dilgam Asgarov, who were serving their sentences in Artsakh, returned to Azerbaijan by plane.

Recall that Shahbaz Guliyev and Dilgam Asgarov were detained in 2014 in Artsakh. The Artsakh court sentenced Askerov to life imprisonment, and Guliyev to 22 years in prison. They were found guilty of a number of serious crimes. In particular, they were convicted of sabotage, the murder of a 17-year-old teenager and an Armenian officer.
