Levon Aronian (USA), the former leader of the Armenian national men’s chess team, ranked among the top three chess prizewinners of 2025, according to data reported by Chess.com.
Aronian earned a total of $751,000 last year after competing in 15 tournaments, placing him third overall worldwide in prize earnings.
The top spot was claimed by Magnus Carlsen of Norway, the 16th world chess champion, who participated in 16 tournaments and earned $1,455,000.
Fabiano Caruana of the United States finished second, playing in 19 tournaments and earning $889,000.
The rankings are based on tournaments offering at least $10,000 in prize money for first place, Chess.com reported.
