20-year-old Armenian weightlifter Aleksandra Grigoryan delivered a record-breaking performance at the 2025 European Junior & U23 Weightlifting Championships in Durrës, Albania, lifting a combined 214 kg in the women’s 58 kg category to win gold and was crowned European Champion while setting new European youth records in both the clean and jerk and the total. Her victory also marked Armenia’s first medal at this year’s championships, reaffirming the nation’s dominance on the continental stage, according to Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
Grigoryan, a member of Armenia’s women’s national team, 2024 European Senior Champion in the 55 kg category, and World Championship bronze medalist, achieved a flawless campaign, successfully completing all six of her lifts — a rare feat in international competition that showcased her precision, strength, and composure on the platform.
In the snatch, Grigoryan lifted 85 kg, 89 kg, and 91 kg in three successful attempts, securing the gold medal in this event.
In the clean and jerk, she continued her dominance by lifting 112 kg, 116 kg, and 123 kg, once again taking first place and officially setting a new European youth record.
With a combined total of 214 kg (91 + 123), Grigoryan claimed the overall gold, securing her place in European weightlifting history as one of Armenia’s most promising young champions.
