NewsDiasporaFerrahian Cabayan School Begins New Year With Record Enrollment of 1,390 Students, Solidifying Status As Largest Armenian School Outside Armenia

Today marked the first day of the 2025-2026 school year across both campuses of Holy Martyrs Ferrahian High School, Cabayan Elementary School, and Pilavjian Preschool in Los Angeles, reports Zartonk Media.

This year, the school has reached another record-breaking milestone with a total enrollment of 1,390 students between the Ferrahian High School and Middle School Campus in Encino and the Cabayan Elementary and Pilavjian Preschool Campus in North Hills. This marks an increase from last year’s record enrollment of 1,232, when Ferrahian became the largest Armenian school in the diaspora. This year’s growth further solidifies its place as the largest Armenian school outside of Armenia.

Enrollment grew from 500 to 580 at Cabayan Elementary School and from 555 to 620 at Ferrahian Middle & High School, reflecting steady expansion across both campuses.

Since its founding in 1964, Ferrahian has been dedicated to providing an exceptional education deeply rooted in Armenian language, culture, and heritage. Over six decades, it has become a cornerstone of Armenian education in Los Angeles, shaping generations of students with a strong sense of identity and academic excellence while playing a crucial role in preserving Armenian identity and community in the diaspora.

Ferrahian School Board Member Alex Beylerian said, “As we approach nearly 1,400 students, we remain proud to be the largest Armenian school in the diaspora. This continued growth and success is thanks to the dedication of our principals, director, faculty, and administration, who ensure that while we expand, we stay true to our core values and strengths.”

Armenian schools like Ferrahian are vital to ensuring that future generations maintain a strong connection to their heritage, fostering a sense of pride and belonging. As the school begins this new academic year, it remains committed to nurturing the next generation of Armenian leaders and scholars. Congratulations to all the students, teachers, and staff on the start of the 2025-2026 school year!
