Iran’s President to Visit Armenia on Three-Day Visit From August 18–21 for High-Level Talks And Business Forum

NewsArmeniaIran’s President to Visit Armenia on Three-Day Visit From August 18–21 for High-Level Talks And Business Forum

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will pay an official working visit to Armenia from August 18 to 21, the Armenian Ministry of Economy has confirmed. The visit comes at the invitation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

As part of the trip, an Armenian-Iranian business forum will be held in Yerevan on August 19. The event will bring together representatives from Iran’s industrial, road construction, agricultural, logistics, pharmaceutical, engineering services, and light industry sectors, who have expressed strong interest in participating. The forum is intended to promote bilateral economic ties, encourage investment, and expand cooperation across multiple fields.

The visit follows recent statements by Pezeshkian on regional transit issues, including the proposed transport corridor linking Azerbaijan to its Nakhichevan exclave. Earlier this month, the Iranian president said that media reports about the so-called “Zangezur Corridor” had been exaggerated and that “Iran’s demands have been met.”

During a phone conversation yesterday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi conveyed to Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan the importance of ensuring that any new transit corridor resulting from the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreements does not hinder Iran’s access to transit routes or upset the regional geopolitical balance. He underscored the need to respect national sovereignty and territorial integrity and highlighted that such infrastructure projects must foster stability and security in the region.

In response, Mirzoyan reassured Araghchi that Armenia will carefully consider Iran’s interests and prioritize regional peace in all decisions regarding transport routes.

He also reiterated that Yerevan prioritizes maintaining friendly and good-neighborly relations with Tehran based on mutual interests.
