This momentum carried Armenia through a 25-10 extended run, allowing them to edge ahead with a 43-42 lead at halftime.
The battle intensified in the third quarter, ending with both teams deadlocked at 66-66. The final quarter was a thriller, with Armenia trailing by 6 before clawing back to within one point with under two and a half minutes remaining. In the decisive moments, Connor Essegian’s pivotal and-one layup, coupled with two clutch free throws, sealed the win for Armenia.
Andre Mkrtchyan-Spight was instrumental, delivering a stellar performance with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. Anto Balian contributed significantly with 13 points and 3 rebounds, while Connor Essegian added 20 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals, playing a crucial role in Armenia’s victory.
The tournament started on a high note for Armenia with a dominant 89-57 win against Guatemala on Friday, June 21.
