Armenian-American community leader and longtime Glendale resident Ronnie Gharibian officially launched his campaign for Glendale City Council on February 11, 2026, during a kickoff event that brought together community members, civic leaders, and supporters from across the city.

The event drew more than 200 supporters and raised $50,000, reflecting early grassroots enthusiasm for Gharibian’s campaign. Among those in attendance were Glendale Mayor Ara Najarian, Councilmembers Vartan Gharpetian and Ardy Kassakhian, and former Councilmember Vrej Aghajanian.

“Vote for the person who knows the city. Vote for the person who can work well with colleagues. Ronnie is one of those people,” said Glendale Mayor Ara Najarian.

“I’ve known Ronnie for more than 20 years, and I don’t know anyone in this city who has anything negative to say about him. In business, in friendship, and in the community, he has always been a straightforward and principled person. I truly believe he will make an outstanding councilmember,” said Councilmember Vartan Gharpetian.

Gharibian, a Glendale resident, business professional, and community leader, said his campaign is focused on practical, community-driven solutions and steady leadership centered on public safety, responsible budgeting, utility affordability, and preserving neighborhood quality of life. His campaign said he brings decades of experience in finance and energy, along with active service on local commissions and organizations, and is focused on protecting residents, keeping costs under control, and ensuring Glendale remains a safe and vibrant city for families and small businesses.

“This campaign is about showing up — for every single resident of Glendale,” said Gharibian.

“Our city is home to more than 190,000 residents, including over 114,000 registered voters, and I am committed to reaching as many of them as possible. But this effort goes beyond the ballot. It’s about families, seniors, young people, and small business owners — everyone who calls Glendale home. You don’t have to be a registered voter to deserve strong representation at City Hall. I will be knocking on doors, making calls, attending neighborhood meetings, and having real conversations so that every voice in our community has the opportunity to be heard.”

Throughout the evening, supporters highlighted Gharibian’s longstanding involvement in local commissions and community initiatives, pointing to his hands-on experience working alongside city leaders, schools, and neighborhood groups on budgeting, planning, and quality-of-life issues.

The campaign said it will continue building momentum in the weeks ahead through neighborhood outreach, community meetings, and volunteer engagement efforts. Photos from the February 11 kickoff will be shared on the campaign’s website and social media platforms.
