Armenia has been ranked the 13th safest country in the world for travel in the World Travel Index Safety Index, earning a score of 90.27 and placing in the top 7% globally among 193 countries. The ranking highlights countries offering the strongest travel safety conditions, positioning Armenia alongside some of the world’s most secure destinations.
Armenia’s placement is particularly notable given that it ranks above several destinations often widely viewed as top-tier “safe travel” countries, including Oman (#14), Singapore (#17), Japan (#23), and Iceland (#24). This reinforces Armenia’s growing reputation as a secure destination for both visitors and diaspora travelers.
The top of the Safety Index is heavily dominated by small island nations, a pattern that often appears in global safety rankings due to lower crime rates and fewer large-scale security risks in smaller countries. In this ranking, Oceania alone accounts for six of the top twelve countries, including Tuvalu, the Cook Islands, Nauru, Palau, the Marshall Islands, and Kiribati.
