The city of Yerevan will begin construction of a new animal shelter for stray dogs next year. The facility will be designed to accommodate approximately 300 dogs and will include traditional kennel cages as well as separate open-air areas, according to a statement from City Hall.
The shelter will aim to provide a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for the animals. The open-air areas are intended to offer dogs space to move and interact in a controlled and secure setting.
Officials also noted that the facility is being designed with animal welfare as a priority. The shelter project was developed based on a study of successful international best practices in animal care and shelter management.
