On August 20, Ari Guiragos Minassian (AGM) Armenian School began its 2025–2026 academic year with record enrollment and a celebratory Opening Day Ceremony that brought together the Orange County Armenian community in celebration, pride, and unity, filled with renewed spirit and the excitement of a new school year.
This year, AGM welcomed 185 students—the highest in its history—marking a milestone as the school prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary, a milestone that honors its legacy and looks toward a bright future. The campus was alive with energy as families were greeted by the traditional sounds of daoul zourna, vibrant Armenian costumes, and the symbolic sharing of lavash bread—a festive start that honored heritage while ushering in a new chapter.
Principal Ani Sarkissian addressed the gathered families, unveiling the school’s new campaign, “Rooted, Renewed, and Rising.” She declared, “Rooted in our values, renewed in our purpose, and rising together as one community. That’s our heartbeat this year. Today, we turn the page. We honor every hand that built yesterday’s AGM, and we step forward—together—into a renewed school shaped by our children and families.”
Board Chair Arpie Baghdassarian echoed that message of gratitude and unity, thanking parents for their trust and partnership. She emphasized that AGM’s success is dependent on the collaboration of all stakeholders and highlighted the power of community, stating, “Our greatest strength comes from our unity and shared sense of purpose. It’s what makes this community exceptional—and it is what will carry us to success.”
The Parent Support Committee added warmth to the day with coffee and treats for families, fostering fellowship and joy among parents and community members. Father Karekin Bedourian closed the ceremony with words of wisdom, a heartfelt prayer, and a special blessing. He also conveyed a message from Prelate Kegham Khacherian, encouraging faith, resilience, and unity, and calling on the community to remain steadfast in its commitment to Armenian education—inspiring all with hope for the school year ahead.
Founded in 1986, AGM has been the heartbeat of the Orange County Armenian community for nearly four decades. The school has educated generations of Armenian youth, with many alumni now returning as parents, entrusting their own children to the very classrooms where they once studied. With record enrollment, a dedicated faculty, and the steadfast support and dedication of its families and community, Ari Guiragos Minassian enters the 2025–2026 academic year bursting with confidence, pride, and hope for the future.
Congratulations to the students, teachers, and families of AGM on this historic school year!
