Armenia’s foreign trade turnover dropped by 45% in the first half of 2025 (January–June) compared to the same period last year, totaling $9.67 billion, according to data released by the National Statistical Committee, reports Armenpress.
Exports fell by 52.8% to $3.76 billion, while imports declined by 38.6% to $5.91 billion compared to January–June 2024.
In June 2025, foreign trade turnover rose 9.4% compared to May 2025 but remained 16.6% lower than in June 2024. Exports reached $729.8 million—up 23.6% from May 2025 but down 15.9% compared to June 2024. Imports totaled $1.002 billion, rising 0.9% from May 2025 but falling 17.1% from June 2024.
Despite the sharp drop in foreign trade, Armenia’s economic activity index grew by 6.3% in the January–June 2025 period compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Statistical Committee and the Ministry of Finance, reports Armenpress.
Year-on-year data for January–June 2025 shows:
- Industrial output fell 12.1%, totaling over 1.2 trillion AMD.
- Agricultural production rose 7.3%, exceeding 316 billion AMD.
- Construction grew 18.5%, reaching 224.8 billion AMD.
- Trade turnover increased 3.9%, totaling nearly 3 trillion AMD.
- Services sector expanded by 9.8%, amounting to over 1.8 trillion AMD.
- Consumer price index rose 3.1%.
- Industrial product price index increased 2.1%.
- Electricity production edged up 0.8%.
