Highly-Anticipated TUMO Los Angeles Opens Enrollment For Free After-School Tech & Design Learning Center For Teens, Launching This September

NewsDiasporaHighly-Anticipated TUMO Los Angeles Opens Enrollment For Free After-School Tech & Design Learning Center For Teens, Launching This September

TUMO Los Angeles, the first TUMO Center in the United States, has officially opened enrollment for its innovative, free-of-charge after-school program, set to launch in September 2025 in North Hollywood, reports Zartonk Media.

Bringing cutting-edge tech and design education to teens ages 12 to 18, the program blends self-paced digital learning with hands-on workshops led by industry professionals in eight disciplines: music, filmmaking, animation, 3D modeling, programming, robotics, game development, and graphic design. TUMO’s award-winning generative AI curriculum will also be available later this year.

Touted as one of the most advanced learning programs in the world, TUMO officially opened enrollment on June 11 at losangeles.tumo.org, with over 1,300 students already on the waitlist. The first cohort will accept 600 students, with plans to expand over the coming year. Interested students are encouraged to apply—space is limited.

“This center will create life-changing experiences for our children and build the next generation of leaders for our communities,” said Los Angeles City Councilmember Adrin Nazarian, who spearheaded the effort to bring TUMO to California during his time in the State Assembly.

The center is located at 4146 Lankershim Boulevard, near the iconic Universal Studios. The project was made possible through a $23.25 million grant from the State of California and $3 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding from the City of Los Angeles.

“I’m extremely thankful to our team and the many stakeholders who made this launch possible. I can’t wait to see what our teens create starting this September,” said Sawyer Hescock, Executive Director of TUMO Los Angeles.

NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang has praised TUMO, stating: “I’ve seen a lot of STEM programs and TUMO has to be one of the best in the world.”

About TUMO

The TUMO Center for Creative Technologies is a global leader in after-school technology and design education. TUMO provides cutting-edge education completely free of charge to 35,000 teens worldwide. It was founded in Yerevan, Armenia in 2011 by Sam and Sylva Simonian, along with Marie Lou and Pegor Papazian, and has since grown to more than 17 centers around the world, including a recent center in Takasaki, Japan. Other TUMO locations include Paris, Berlin, Lyon, Lisbon, Coimbra, and Tirana, with new centers set to open in Buenos Aires, Amsterdam, Bilbao, and Porto among others.

Why North Hollywood?

North Hollywood is home to numerous studios, media, design, and technology companies. However, local teens have limited access to pursue hands-on, rigorous, long-term education in technology and design. TUMO will serve as a bridge, connecting interested teens with the skills, mentors, and resources they need to excel.
