On the occasion of Charles Aznavour’s 101st birthday anniversary, a grand opening ceremony was held for the “La Bohème” Belvedere—named after Aznavour’s iconic song—in the Montmartre district of Paris, the Armenian Embassy in France announced in a press release.
In his opening remarks, Armenia’s Ambassador to France, Arman Khachatryan, highlighted the significance of the initiative in preserving the legacy of the world-renowned artist. He expressed gratitude to Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and the entire Paris City Council for their support in adopting the decision.
Khachatryan noted that Aznavour, who symbolized both France and Frenchness, also represented the Armenian people as a whole. Following Armenia’s independence, Aznavour became a steadfast supporter of Armenian statehood, serving as its official ambassador, receiving the title of National Hero, and contributing significantly to numerous initiatives in support of Armenia.
The ceremony was also attended by Charles Aznavour’s son, Mischa Aznavour; Deputy Mayors of Paris, Carine Rolland and Laurence Patrice; Mayor of Paris’ 18th arrondissement, Eric Lejoindre; as well as political, public, and cultural figures and local residents.
