Additional Information From ICE
ICE states that several factors may prevent or delay deportations, including legal protections, foreign government cooperation, and logistical challenges. Individuals may seek relief such as asylum, withholding of removal, or protection under the Convention Against Torture (CAT), which would prevent deportation if granted.
ICE also noted that lack of cooperation from certain foreign governments can delay or block removals. As of November 2024, 15 countries are classified as uncooperative, and 11 are considered at risk of non-compliance.
