Armenian gymnast Artur Davtyan has advanced to the finals after a successful start in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics “pole vault competition” at the 32nd Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

He scored 14,866 points in the qualification round to make it to the final which will take place on August 2.

Armenian shooter Elmira Karapetyan and boxer Hovhannes Bachkov are set to start their performances on Sunday.

Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian, Deputy Minister of Sport Karen Giloyan were at the scene to support Davtyan in the qualification round.

Armenia has 17 athletes competing in eight sports at Tokyo 2020.
