Azerbaijani Armed Forces Capture An Armenian Soldier In Lachin.

HomelandAzerbaijani Armed Forces Capture An Armenian Soldier In Lachin.

On Tuesday, June 8, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense announced that they have captured an Armenian soldier Artur Kartanyan near Lachin.

The Azerbaijani MoD accused him of being apart of a “Armenian sabotage group” that allegedly crossed the border in the direction of Lachin in order to mine the territory.

The Armenian Ministry of Defense said that the Armenian soldier lost his path and was disoriented due to the fog, finding himself in the area under the control of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

Soon after, the Republic of Armenia applied to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) to ensure the fundamental human rights of the Armenian prisoner-of-war captured today by Azerbaijani forces in Lachin, informs the Office of Armenia’s Representative to the ECHR.

“The submitted request aims to ensure respect of the captive’s rights to life and prohibition of torture envisaged by the European Convention on Human Rights,” says the statement.

The Armenian MoD denied the Azerbaijani MoD’s statement that A. Katanyan is a saboteur.
