iArmenian wrestler representing Bulgaria, Aik Mnatsakanian (77 kg), wins gold at the World Olympic Game Qualifier’s in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Aik Mnatsakanian defeated Turkey’s Fatih Cengiz 3-2 in the semi-finals & Azerbaijan’s Rafig Huseynov (WO) in the finals to secured his ticket to the World Olympic Games which will be held in Tokyo.

The final between Mnatsakanian and Huseynov did not take place because Huseynov did not appear on the mat. The match was irrelevant, as they both secured there tickets for the Tokyo Olympics in the summer by qualifying for the final.

Armenian wrestlers Armen Melikyan (60 kg) and Karen Aslanyan (67 kg) also secured there Olympic berths, per the Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Science and Sports.

In the last wrestling ranking tournament for the World Olympic Games in Sofia, Bulgaria, the Armenian athletes reached the final, at the same time winning a ticket to the Games to be held in Tokyo.

The victorious performances of the Armenian wrestlers were followed by the Deputy Minister of the Republic of Armenia Karen Giloyan, who is currently in Sofia on a working visit, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Bulgaria Armen Edigaryan.

Armenia currently has 8 tickets to the Olympics. Earlier, boxer Koryun Soghomonyan, gymnast Arthur Davtyan, Greco-Roman wrestlers Arthur Aleksanyan and Karapet Chalyan, freestyle wrestlers Arsen Harutyunyan and Vazgen Tevanyan won tickets.
