Today, the Armenian Youth Federation Western United States passed the 48 hour mark of their hunger strike in-front of the Federal Building in Los Angeles to call attention to war crimes being committed against Armenians.
The AYF declares, that the “United States, as a leading world power, has an obligation to ensure Azerbaijan and Turkey stop their aggression and war crimes against innocent Armenians. The US has strongly FAILED in its role as a Co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group. The Minsk Group’s neutral statements calling on “both sides to de-escalate” are USELESS. These statements do nothing but create false parity in a situation where it is CLEAR who the aggressor is. The Minsk Group is enabling Azerbaijan to continue its violence and agenda of ethnic cleansing in Artsakh,” said the AYF-WUS to Zartonk Media.
AYF Member & hunger striker Serli Shanlian said in her speech: “There must be a real solution to Azerbaijans aggression, recognize Artsakh, sanction Turkey and sanction Azerbaijan.”
Shanlian added, “This is what we think of your statement,” as AYF member & fellow hunger striker Shant Atamian proceeded to burn the OSCE Minsk Group’s statement that calls on both sides to deescalate the conflict.
