White House: Armenia accepts ceasefire, Azerbaijan does not.

DiasporaAmericasWhite House: Armenia accepts ceasefire, Azerbaijan does not.

United States President Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien has said that Armenia has accepted a ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh, while Azerbaijan has not.

Talking to “Face the Nation” on CBSNews.com on Sunday, October 25, O’Brien said White House officials, under the president’s direction, spent the entire weekend trying to broker peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“And Armenia has accepted a ceasefire. Azerbaijan has not yet. We’re pushing them to do so,” the official said.

The Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers traveled to Washington for separate meetings with the Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, on October 23. The sides have already agreed on a humanitarian truce twice before but Azerbaijan blatantly violates the ceasefire to strike Armenian settlements and civilian infrastructure.
