On Saturday, September 5, the Armenian Community in Montreal, Canada unveiled a statue of Komitas Vartabed, per the Armenian National Committee of Canada.

Dr. Megerditch Tarakdjian is the sculptor of the statue.

Komitas was an Armenian priest, musicologist, composer, arranger, singer, and choirmaster, who is considered the founder of the Armenian national school of music. He is recognized as one of the pioneers of ethnomusicology.
