Armenian weightlifter Varazdat Lalayan (109kg) won the gold medal at the Online International Weightlifting Cup organized and hosted by Uzbekistan to mark its Independence Day.

The Armenian athlete successfully lifted a total of 425kg (195 + 230) to grab the champion’s title, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport reported.

Another Armenian weightlifter, Samvel Gasparyan (102kg), won bronze after lifting 381kg in total.

Andranik Karapetyan (89kg), the third athlete representing Armenia in the competition, finished fourth with a result of 355kg.

The Online International Weightlifting Cup brought together 109 participants from 30 countries.
