BREAKING NEWS: Armenians In Washington DC. Hold Protest At Azerbaijani Embassy.

DiasporaAmericasBREAKING NEWS: Armenians In Washington DC. Hold Protest At Azerbaijani Embassy.

On July 18, a protest was organized by the Armenian Youth Federation in front of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Washington DC to protest Azeri aggression.

Armenians chanted “Artsakh is Armenia” and “Stop Aliyev” in an act of solidarity with the Republic of Armenia and the peaceful people of Armenia. The protest was organized as a means of outrage due to the deplorable and disgraceful actions of the Azerbaijani government in its attack targeted at civilians in the Tavush region. The attack yet again demonstrates an instance of unprovoked ceasefire and human rights violations against the Republic of Armenia.

Peaceful Armenian protestors were met with provocative Azeri and Turkish demonstrators who held up insignia of the Grey Wolves. The Grey Wolves are a Turkish neo-fascist organization known for their racism, xenophobia, and fascist Armenophobic stances and acts.

Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA), Aram Hamparian, declared that, “What we saw today here, was a display of violence, and venom, and anger, and very short of hatred that’s been incited by the Aliyev regime in Azerbaijan against the Armenians. It is as red hot as ever. It is a toxic, venomous brew of anti-Armenianist, anti-diasporan, and anti-everything to do with Armenians. It’s what we have to deal with, it’s what we have to work on. But we are united and we’ll do just that.

The protest in Washington DC, among many others across the world, calls for an end to Azeri aggression and urges the international community to pursue sanctions on the government of Azerbaijan and shed light on its international and human rights violations. Armenians everywhere throughout the Armenian diaspora stand with the peaceful people of Armenia and reaffirm their undeniable right to security and independence.
