The Armenian government has approved nearly 22.9 billion drams (about $59.6 million) to fund construction, renovation, and modernization projects across the country’s educational and cultural institutions.
According to Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Araksiya Svadjyan, 8.95 billion drams will go toward school construction, while 2.5 billion drams are allocated for educational complexes. An additional 9.3 billion drams will be used for school repairs, reconstruction, and the launch of new facilities.
The funding package also includes cultural projects. Renovation plans cover the Tigran Petrosyan Chess House, the Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet Theater, the statues outside the Matenadaran, and the building of the Theater and Cinema Institute.
In addition, resources will be directed toward archaeological excavations in the Getamerdz area of Ararat Province. Several cultural institutions, including the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall, Sundukyan Theater, and Chamber Theater, will receive new furniture and equipment, along with other regional theaters.
The government says the investments aim to strengthen both Armenia’s educational infrastructure and its cultural heritage.
