HomelandThree Armenian Soldiers Injured By Azerbaijani Fire In Gegharkunik.

Three Armenian soldiers injured by Azerbaijani forces opening fire on Armenian positions in the Gegharkunik section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border of contact on July 23 at around 5:00 pm, informs the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.

The firing was preceded by a shootout in the Azerbaijani military bases, which could be due to an interpersonal incident between the Azerbaijani military.

“The fact that the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan states in its message that an Azerbaijani soldier was killed after the fire opened by the Armenian side speaks about it,” states the Armenian MoD, “adding that the Armenian forces did not take counter-action until the moment when the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire on the Armenian positions.”

As a result the provocation by the Azerbaijani side, 3 servicemen of the Armenian Armed Forces sustained gunshot wounds. The injuries are not life-threatening.

The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia strongly condemns the new provocation of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, stating that the entire responsibility for the aggravation of the situation lies with the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan.
