HomelandFormer President Serzh Sargsyan Rules Out "Corridor" Through Armenia.

Third President Serzh Sargsyan has ruled out the possibility of providing a “corridor” to Azerbaijan through the territory of Armenia, reports PanArmenian.

Meeting with the supporters of the “I Have The Honor” bloc in the town of Masis, Sargsyan said he is “100% percent against” the provision of a corridor through the country.

Azeri President Ilham Aliyev has been constantly speaking about the so-called “Zangezur corridor” which he says should pass through the southern Armenian province of Syunik. Aliyev has also vowed to open a corridor through the use of force if Armenia fails to give in voluntarily.

“How can we give them a corridor, for what? Are we obliged to provide a corridor, is there a paper, an agreement?” Sargsyan said in response to a question from a supporter.

“I see no problem in unblocking transport communications in the region, but what corridor are you talking about?”

Asked whether there might be an agreement with Russia and Turkey, Sargsyan said he was not aware of any such deal.
