Armenia’s economic activity index rose 7.4% in January-February 2026 compared to the same period last year, while the country’s foreign trade turnover increased 9.3% to $3.0641 billion, according to the Statistical Committee, pointing to continued growth across key areas of the economy in the opening months of the year.

According to the Statistical Committee, Armenia’s foreign trade turnover in January-February 2026 reached $3.0641 billion, up 9.3% from the same period of 2025.

In February alone, foreign trade turnover rose 37.1% compared to January and 30.8% compared to February 2025, totaling $1.7718 billion.

Exports in the first two months of 2026 increased 12.6% year-over-year to $1.1688 billion. In February, exports rose 44.2% compared to January and 37.6% compared to February of last year, reaching $690.2 million.

Imports during January-February increased 7.3% compared to the same period in 2025, totaling $1.8953 billion. In February, imports rose 32.9% month-over-month and 26.9% year-over-year to $1.0816 billion.

At the same time, Armenia’s economic activity index, a broad measure of economic performance, was 7.4% higher in January-February 2026 than in the same period a year earlier.

In February, the index was up 4.5% compared to January and 7.2% compared to February 2025.

Among the major sectors, the strongest growth was recorded in construction. Construction volume rose 20.5% year-over-year in the first two months of 2026, reaching AMD 53.9537 billion. In February, construction increased 40.7% from January and 21.8% from February 2025, with AMD 31.6917 billion in construction work carried out during the month.

Industrial production also posted strong growth. Output in January-February rose 17.2% compared to the same period last year, totaling AMD 491.4794 billion. In February, industrial production increased 12.2% from January and 23.8% from February 2025, amounting to AMD 261.9388 billion.

Domestic trade turnover in January-February increased 3.3% year-over-year to AMD 892.2471 billion. In February, it rose 14.4% compared to January and 5.6% compared to the same month last year, reaching AMD 477.5026 billion.

The volume of services, excluding trade, rose 7.2% in the first two months of the year to AMD 630.3105 billion. In February, however, services declined 1.7% compared to January, though they were still 7% higher than in February 2025. The total volume of services in February was estimated at AMD 312.319 billion.

Consumer prices in January-February were 4.1% higher than in the same period of the previous year. In February, the consumer price index rose 0.5% from January and 4.3% from February 2025.

The industrial product price index rose 9% in January-February compared to the same period last year. In February, it increased 1.4% month-over-month and 9.5% year-over-year.

Electricity production in January-February totaled 1,823.9 million kWh, up 7.1% from the same period of 2025. In February, electricity generation fell 24.4% compared to January and 4.7% compared to February of last year, totaling 785.4 million kWh.

The Statistical Committee noted that this electricity figure does not include power generated by autonomous producers for crossflows.
