Evelina Sarian, an Armenian-American community leader, mother, businesswoman, and designer, has launched her campaign for Glendale City Council. She brings a lifelong record of creativity, leadership, and service shaped by experiences that span continents, industries, and community roles. Her background as a designer, educator, entrepreneur, and community advocate informs her approach to leadership and public service. Sarian will appear on the ballot as a candidate in Glendale’s next municipal election, scheduled for June 2, 2026.
Her campaign formally kicked off with a successful launch event on December 3 at Katsin Restaurant on West Broadway in Glendale, where supporters, community members, local leaders, and neighbors gathered for an evening of conversation, food, and community connection. The event highlighted early enthusiasm for her message of practical, compassionate leadership and responsible governance.
Evelina’s vision for Glendale is to build a safer, more family-centered, and opportunity-rich city where residents feel heard, supported, and united. She aims to deliver results through thoughtful problem solving, ethical decision making, and respect for Glendale’s identity and charm.
“I am incredibly grateful for everyone who joined us,” Evelina said at the event. “The energy in the room reflected what I believe deeply, Glendale is ready for forward-looking leadership that listens, brings people together, and delivers real solutions. This campaign is about building a future our families can be proud of.”
Born in Armenia into a family that blended artistry with entrepreneurship, Evelina grew up with a strong sense of vision, discipline, and community responsibility. These early lessons formed the foundation of a career that took her from the fashion capitals of the world to classrooms, boardrooms, and civic service in Glendale.
Evelina studied at Atex College in Armenia and Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. Her designs were showcased at Los Angeles Fashion Week and sold at Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman. She received honors including the Rudi Gernreich Award in Los Angeles, the Onward Koshiyama Grand Prix Finalist distinction in Tokyo, and the Samsung Fashion Competition Gold Medal in Seoul.
Her work extended far beyond fashion. Evelina spent much of her career in education, teaching and mentoring at Otis College of Art and Design beginning in 2005. She later served as Dean at Fremont College and the Art Institute. She continued her academic journey with two master’s degrees from Woodbury University, one in Organizational Leadership and another in Business Administration with a focus on Management and Marketing. Her dedication to learning and leadership has shaped her commitment to helping others reach their potential.
Evelina’s experience also includes media and entrepreneurship. As a TV host at New York Fashion Week, she interviewed global icons such as Tom Ford, Oprah Winfrey, and David Copperfield, connecting audiences through culture and creativity. She founded and later sold her yoga and athleisure brand, Peggy Moffitt, and consulted for leading fashion companies like Komarov. Her career has consistently blended innovation, business, and education, qualities she aims to bring to Glendale’s City Hall.
In Glendale, Evelina is an active and committed community member. Together with her husband, Mike Sarian, she has supported cultural events, religious fundraisers, youth sports programs, and the Los Angeles Food Bank. She is a proud mother who believes in strengthening families and empowering neighborhoods.
Her platform focuses on strengthening public safety, supporting small businesses, preserving Glendale’s unique character, and ensuring ethics and responsible growth. The campaign launch marked the beginning of a grassroots effort centered on engaging residents across the city and elevating the issues most important to Glendale families.
