Tucker Carlson To Interview Narek Karapetyan, Coordinator Of “Our Way” Movement and Nephew Of Political Prisoner Samvel Karapetyan

NewsArmeniaTucker Carlson To Interview Narek Karapetyan, Coordinator Of “Our Way” Movement and Nephew Of Political Prisoner Samvel Karapetyan

American journalist Tucker Carlson is reportedly set to conduct an exclusive interview with Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the “Our Way” (Mer Dzevov) movement. The interview, scheduled for today, will feature Karapetyan, nephew of Armenian-Russian billionaire and political prisoner Samvel Karapetyan, discussing Armenia’s “national liberation” struggle and the country’s current political climate.

The full conversation is expected to be released soon. A short preview clip has been shared on the movement’s Facebook page, where Karapetyan describes Armenia’s “national liberation struggle” as “one of the most important missions of my life.”

According to the movement’s spokesperson Marianna Ghahramanyan, the interview has not yet taken place but will air within hours, following mutual interest from both Tucker Carlson and Narek Karapetyan.

Earlier today, government?linked tabloid media have been circulating claims that, before traveling to New York, the Karapetyan’s hired a lobbying firm to publish an article and arrange an interview with Carlson. According to these reports, the article, which appeared in the weekend edition of the Financial Times, covered the arrest of Samvel Karapetyan, and was followed by an interview of Karapetyan’s nephew, Narek, with Carlson. The media claimed that the Karapetyan’s paid the lobbying firm around $1 million, with $400,000 reportedly spent solely on the interview with Carlson.

In her statement, Ghahramanyan addressed the reports and speculation surrounding the interview’s organization and financing: “In response to a number of questions from the media, I inform you that Narek Karapetyan’s interview with Tucker Carlson has not yet taken place,  it will take place within a few hours. The interest in the interview has been mutual,” Ghahramanyan wrote.

“As for the false information spread by government-aligned media and platforms claiming that the interview was conducted on a paid basis and as a result of lobbying work, I officially inform you that not a single dram was spent on the interview. Developments in Armenia are being closely followed in the United States. The civilized world, of course, is surprised that the leader of a state which proclaims itself democratic imprisons a national benefactor for defending the Church and wages an unrelenting struggle against our national identity and the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church.”

“I understand that the current authorities measure everything by their own yardstick. By the way, we call on the authorities to disclose how much money from the state budget has been allocated over the past seven years to organize Nikol Pashinyan’s interviews in various Western publications and to publish his so-called ‘gems of thought,’” she added.

The interview’s announcement has generated widespread attention, particularly given the ongoing detention of Samvel Karapetyan, one of Armenia’s most prominent businessmen and philanthropists, and the head of the Tashir Group conglomerate. He was arrested on June 18, 2025, on charges of allegedly calling for the unlawful seizure of power after sharply criticizing the government’s actions against the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Samvel Karapetyan founded Tashir Group in 1999, which has grown into a sprawling business empire that includes major assets in Armenia such as the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) and Dalma Garden Mall.

Although a court later ruled his arrest unlawful, prosecutors have continued the case on new grounds, with parts of his business assets reportedly seized — developments widely viewed as part of a broader political confrontation between Armenia’s authorities and influential civic and business figures.

Following his arrest, Karapetyan’s family filed an official investment-dispute notice against the Armenian government, claiming that the state’s actions against Tashir Group’s assets may lead to international arbitration.

The movement’s spokesperson reiterated that the interview was not arranged through paid lobbying, contrasting it with what the organization characterizes as government-funded international media efforts to promote official narratives.

Tucker Carlson has not shared any details about the upcoming interview on his social media platforms.
