Armenia has extended verbal invitations to the leaders of Turkey and Azerbaijan to attend the 8th Summit of the European Political Community (EPC), scheduled to take place next year in the spring of 2026 in Yerevan, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan confirmed.
“Yes, we have conveyed invitations,” Mirzoyan told reporters in Parliament when asked whether representatives of Turkey and Azerbaijan are expected to attend alongside other world leaders. “We haven’t sent the written invitations yet, but we have verbally invited participation at the highest level.” He specifically noted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev have been invited.
Armenia will host the EPC Summit in 2026, a forum established in 2022 to facilitate political consultation among European countries in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The organization includes 47 participating countries and holds summits twice a year in different European cities. For Armenia, the EPC has become an important platform for dialogue with Azerbaijan as part of broader efforts toward normalization.
The 7th meeting of the EPC took place on October 2 in Copenhagen, Denmark, bringing together leaders from across the continent to discuss common challenges and strengthen cooperation.
Following the meeting, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the next, 8th Summit of the Community will be held in Yerevan on May 4, 2026. “I have officially invited my colleagues from the participating countries to Yerevan. It is a great honor to host each of them,” Pashinyan wrote, underlining Armenia’s commitment to fostering political dialogue and collaboration across Europe.
