Five students from the A. Shahinyan Specialized Physics-Mathematics School of Yerevan achieved outstanding results at the Open World Astronomy Olympiad held in Sochi, Russia, earning three gold and two silver medals.

In the team standings, Armenia placed second overall, surpassed only by the host country, Russia.

The Armenian team members and their awards are as follows:

  • Gor Hasratyan, 2025 graduate and first-year student at Yerevan State University – Gold Medal
  • Natali Margaryan, 12th grade – Gold Medal
  • Ruzanna Shiroyan, 12th grade – Gold Medal
  • Bagrat Bagratyan, 12th grade – Silver Medal
  • Anahit Galstyan, 12th grade – Silver Medal

The team was led by Artavazd Harutyunyan, head of the school’s Astronomy Olympiad group.

All expenses for the team’s participation were covered by the “Friend of the PhysMath School” Charitable Foundation, ensuring that Armenia’s young astronomers could proudly compete on the international stage.
