Hungarian ultra-low-cost carrier Wizz Air is expanding its Armenian network with a new route connecting Gyumri and Larnaca, Armenia International Airports CJSC announced.
The flights will commence on September 30 and operate twice a week. Until October 25, the service will run on Tuesdays and Saturdays, before shifting to Thursdays and Sundays starting October 30.
Tickets are already available on Wizzair.com and the WIZZ mobile app, with fares starting at €14.99.
Anastasia Novak, Corporate and Sustainability Communications Manager at Wizz Air, said: “With the recent announcement of our Yerevan base, we are proud to continue our growth in Armenia and to open a new station in Gyumri, an important cultural hub of the country. This year we have already carried more than 600,000 passengers between Armenia and Europe, and we plan to double this figure by the end of the year with the addition of the Larnaca route. Armenia and Cyprus are both important emerging markets for Wizz Air, and this new route demonstrates our commitment to providing travelers in Armenia with more affordable and diverse travel opportunities. We look forward to welcoming passengers on board to discover the charm of Larnaca and all that Cyprus has to offer.”
Earlier this year, Wizz Air also expanded its presence in Armenia by adding more routes from Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport. On October 1, 2025, the airline will further strengthen its Armenian operations by opening its 34th base in Yerevan, stationing two Airbus A321neo aircraft, and launching eight new routes from Zvartnots to Hamburg, Memmingen, Naples, Bari, Bucharest, Paphos, Nice, and Prague. Fares on these new routes will start from €29.99, bringing Wizz Air’s Armenian network to 17 routes across 10 countries, Wizz Air Hungary Managing Director Roland Tischner announced at a press conference.
The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia said it highly values its effective cooperation with Wizz Air, noting that the partnership promotes balanced territorial development and decentralization in the country. It added that Gyumri’s Shirak Airport, the second-largest in Armenia, is ready to operate international flights in line with European standards.
