Armenian Film Society has announced the full program for the 2025 Armenian Film Festival, which will be held September 3-7 across three Glendale venues, including Alex Theatre, The Americana at Brand, and Vertigo.
This year’s Armenian Film Festival will consist of five days of premieres, exclusive conversations, and celebrations with filmmakers all over the world.
Highlights of the 2025 Program Include:
Opening Night and Los Angeles Premiere of Monsieur Aznavour
The Armenian Film Festival kicks off with the Los Angeles premiere of Monsieur Aznavour, the highly anticipated portrait of legendary singer Charles Aznavour. Starring César Award-winning actor Tahar Rahim, Monsieur Aznavour offers an intimate look at the life and legacy of one of the most celebrated voices in music history.
World Premiere of A Winter’s Song
A Winter’s Song is a Christmas romantic comedy filmed in Armenia, featuring a diaspora cast.
US Premiere of Thus Spoke the Wind
This haunting family drama on the fringes of society comes to the Armenian Film Festival fresh from its debut at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
Los Angeles Premiere of Words Left Unspoken
This moving documentary centers on Joze Piranian, a severe stutterer, who decides to confront his fears by holding conversations with his family that he never dared to have before.
Short Film Showcases
15 short films will be featured at this year’s Armenian Film Festival across three curated programs:
- Around the World: Stories by Armenian filmmakers from the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Russia.
- Made in Armenia: Films produced in Armenia by local Armenian creatives.
- Student Filmmakers: For the first time ever, Armenian Film Festival will spotlight emerging voices and student storytellers.
Closing Day Celebration
The festival’s final day is packed with marquee events:
- 1:30pm: Sev Ohanian in Proximity with Ryan Coogler: The acclaimed producer and celebrated director of Sinners take the stage at the Alex Theatre for a rare, in-depth discussion on their creative partnership and the work of Proximity Media.
- 5pm: Gala: Armenian Film Society’s milestone gala will celebrate 10 years of Armenian Film Society, and honor actor Karren Karagulian, director Madeline Sharaifan, and producer Sev Ohanian, who will be inducted into the newly established Armenian Film Hall of Fame.
“2025 marks 10 years of Armenian Film Society, and this year’s Armenian Film Festival is our biggest celebration yet,” said founders Armen and Mary Karaoghlanian. “We’re excited to showcase wonderful films from all over the world, and for the first time ever, celebrate with our closing night gala, where we’ll be honoring exceptional filmmakers.”
