Armenian shooter Hovhannes Margaryan has made history by setting both a new world and European record at the European Shooting Championship, winning gold in the men’s individual 50m moving target shotgun competition (normal speed event), reports the International Shooting Sport Federation.
Margaryan scored an impressive 297 points in the slow-moving target round and 294 points in the fast-moving target round, achieving a cumulative total of 591 points. His record-breaking performance secured the gold medal, rewriting the record books and placing him two points ahead of Sweden’s Jesper Nyberg, who took silver, and Hungary’s Tamas Tasi, who earned bronze.
Armenia also celebrated success in the men’s team ranking, as Hovhannes Margaryan, Gor Khachatryan, and Hayk Minasyan captured the bronze medal with a combined score of 1,738 points. Sweden won gold with 1,740 points, while Finland claimed silver.
The championship is being held in Châteauroux, France, from July 23 to August 7, marking a historic moment for Armenia in European shooting sports.
