Legendary Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Artur Aleksanyan has just set a new world record in grip strength, surpassing the previous mark held by Iranian wrestler Amirreza Masoumi.
At the Wrestle Bratislava event in Slovakia, Aleksanyan recorded a grip strength of 195 pounds (88.5 kg)—breaking Masoumi’s earlier record of 186.6 pounds (84.6 kg).
The feat was captured and shared by United World Wrestling, highlighting Aleksanyan’s raw power and dominance—yet another reason he’s widely regarded as one of the sport’s all-time greats.
Nicknamed the “White Bear,” Aleksanyan is an Olympic gold medalist, two-time Olympic silver medalist, four-time World Champion, and seven-time European Champion.
This latest accomplishment adds another major milestone to his legendary career and underscores Armenia’s continued dominance in Greco-Roman wrestling.
On April 12, Aleksanyan is set to compete in the 2025 European Wrestling Championships, aiming to claim his 8th European title.
