UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk addressed the issue of all persons arbitrarily detained in Azerbaijan, including ethnic Armenians, at the 58th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday, acording to the Armenian Embassy in Switzerland.
“They must be released immediately, and their rights to a fair trial must be fully respected,” he said.
The UN High Commissioner also stressed that he is closely monitoring the ongoing peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, expressing hope that they “will lead to a process of unveiling the truth, healing, and reconciliation.” He also reaffirmed his readiness to provide support.
